The fortress-city was built in 1551 by order of Ivan the Terrible during his campaign to Kazan. Since the construction of the island, only the Trinity Church has survived, but this does not reduce the value and interest of the town-island. Sviyazhsk is a modern center of Orthodox culture of the Republic of Tatarstan. There are more than 30 objects of cultural heritage here. Thus, you will be amazed by the history of the pearl of Christianity - the Assumption Cathedral, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
